Rob Malason

Sergeant Malason joined NCPD in 1992 after attending the Reading Police Academy. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering. Sergeant Malason serves as the second in command to Chief Robert A. Schurr and handles numerous administrative responsibilities and special projects. Sergeant Malason also is responsible for investigating fatal and serious injury crashes, as he has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR 1127) since 2000. He uses his training in crash reconstruction and certification in vehicle inspection and weights and measures to further this task.

Sergeant Malason also serves as an assistant team leader for the Chester-Montgomery Emergency Response Team, the regional police tactical team, where he has been a police sniper since 1998. He received training from Baltimore County Police Department and the FBI in his craft. He is one of only 3 original team members remaining from the formation of the team in 1997. He is also a less lethal impact munitions instructor as well as a CPR and First Aid instructor.
