Sergeant Malason joined NCPD in 1992 after attending the Reading Police Academy. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor&##39;s of Science Degree in Engineering, and is now a student at St. Joseph&##39;s University for his M.S. in Public Safety. Sergeant Malason is responsible for investigating fatal and serious injury crashes, as he has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR 1127) since 2000. He uses his training in crash reconstruction and certification in vehicle inspection and weights and measures to further this task.

Sergeant Malason received training from Baltimore County Police Department and the FBI in his craft. He is also a less lethal impact munitions instructor as well as a CPR and First Aid instructor.
